Our love for Boxers had an early start. Jack's parents had a plain
brindle female which he grew up with. It wasn't long after
our
marriage
in 1972 that we got our first two Boxers.
We tried
showing
but learned very quickly we only had very nice
pets.
Since we
really wanted to show, we sought out
Don
and Pat
Starkweather
of
Raineylane Kennels. We persuaded
Don to sell us a promising
young male that went on to become
Champion Raineylane's
Beau
Brummel, a noted dog for the
wins he garnered with the
help of
Peter Baynes, a well recognized
Boxer handler. In 1978, Jack became
an A.K.C. licensed handler
himself, but pursuing
this profession was
put on hold from 1981
to '88 so he could devote
more time to our
young family.
When Jack resumed showing, he first acquired a flashy brindle
male,
Von Schaum's Midnite Edition, who
in time completed his
championship.
In 1990, a Cherkei fawn bitch puppy
joined the
Brown
household, later making
her mark as a A.B.C. Dam of Merit.
Also
that year, opportunity arose
for us to acquire two
littermates
three years of age.
Raineylane's Paladin, the male,
finished
and
became Sire of Merit. The ten years following
us taking over the
Raineylane line has proved to
be productive.
This certainly would
have made the
ailing Don
Starkweather
proud. Jack became a full
time handler and has bred over
20 champions, besides
finishing
many more for his clients.
